Using the POA Paper Builder

Six steps from an empty page to an accounts worksheet on the printer.

  1. Find the questions. Narrow the bank with the filters on the left. Filters stack: Core + Prepare a statement + 2024 shows only that. Within one filter, ticking two options shows either. The number beside every option is how many questions you would get if you ticked it with everything else as it is. The search box finds a word in the question, its parts and the figures in its tables.
  2. Add them to the worksheet. Tick the box beside a question, press Add all filtered to take everything showing (the button says how many), or let the Random picker choose a few from what is showing. The Warm-up, Core and Stretch buttons under each sub-topic do the same for one sub-topic and one level. A question always goes in whole, with every part, because later parts use earlier answers.
    Your selection stays put while you change filters, and survives closing the tab.
  3. Check the balance. The panel on the right shows the questions, marks and roughly how long the set should take, with a bar for the Warm-up / Core / Stretch mix.
  4. Preview it. The Preview worksheet tab shows the pages exactly as they will print: the cover, any study pages, each question with its tables re-typeset and a ruled answer space under every part, then the answer key.
  5. Set the options. Theory & key facts puts the facts, the standard formats (statements, ledgers, journals) and the formulas for your sub-topics at the front. How to answer adds the method, a step-by-step approach and a worked example for each question type, then the common mistakes. The two are independent — theory alone as revision, techniques alone as a method sheet, both, or neither for a timed set. Answer key adds the marking pages at the back. Writing space makes the ruled lines and workings boxes tighter or roomier; ledger, journal and statement templates keep the rows the answer needs. Paper is A4 or US Letter. A title is optional.
  6. Generate the PDF. It opens in a viewer on top of the page, drawn page by page so it reads the same on a phone as on a desktop. The toolbar offers Save PDF and Print — whichever of them this browser will actually honour; a control that cannot work here is not shown. Your browser's own Ctrl+P prints the Builder, not the worksheet; use the viewer's Print button. The answer key starts on a right-hand page so a double-sided print can be torn off.

What the filters mean

Syllabus 2026
G2 & G3 is examinable at both levels in 2026. G3 only covers financial analysis, forms of ownership, private limited companies, sale of non-current assets and interest. Outside 2026 syllabus is kept for practice but no longer examined (control accounts, incomplete records, suspense, effects on the next period).
Difficulty
Warm-up: one record, calculation or definition. Core: a complete document from given data. Stretch: figures must be worked out first, or a judgement justified. Printed as Foundational / Standard / Challenging.
Question type
What the pupil produces: record entries, prepare an account, prepare a statement, correct errors, compute, analyse, explain, advise.
Topic
Six topics, 23 sub-topics. A question sits under the sub-topic of its main work, and also under a second one where a tutor would look there too.
Accounting concept
The theory a question turns on — prudence, matching, going concern and the rest.
Year, paper, level, school
Where the question came from. Paper covers Paper 1 or 2 and the kind of paper (prelim or O-Level).
